This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to everyone who uses the BarrierLedger platform provided by Front End Engineering Consultancy Limited (Business Registration No. 75797664, Hong Kong), trading as FEEC (“FEEC”, “we”). It forms part of the Terms of Service and the signed order form (together, the “Agreement”). The customer is responsible for its users’ compliance with this AUP.
1. Security and integrity
You must not:
1.1 Test security without consent. Probe, scan, penetration-test or otherwise test the vulnerability of the platform, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure, without FEEC’s prior written consent. If you want to test, ask us through the security page and we will agree scope, timing and rules. Good-faith reports of vulnerabilities found in ordinary use are welcome and are not treated as a breach, provided you do not access other customers’ data, disrupt the service or disclose the issue publicly before we have had a reasonable time to fix it.
1.2 Access other tenants’ data. Access or attempt to access data, accounts or tenants you are not authorised to use, including by manipulating identifiers, tokens, requests or scopes.
1.3 Share credentials. Share accounts, passwords or one-time codes, or let more than one person use a single user account.
1.4 Upload harmful content. Upload or transmit malware, macros intended to execute, exploit files, malformed or deliberately oversized files, or any code designed to harm, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to a system. Imported workbooks are parsed as data; macros never run.
1.5 Circumvent limits. Bypass or interfere with plan limits (such as wells in scope or named users), rate limits, file limits or entitlements.
2. Load and automated access
You must not:
2.1 Overload the service. Send requests at a volume that places an unreasonable load on the platform, or carry out denial-of-service attacks.
2.2 Scrape or harvest. Use bots, crawlers or scrapers to access the platform or extract data, except through the export features we provide and within their limits. You may always export your own data.
2.3 Benchmark for a competing product. Access the platform to copy its features, method-profile structure, templates, user interface or content for a competing product.
3. Intellectual property and the software
You must not:
3.1 Reverse engineer. Decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the platform, or attempt to derive its source code, algorithms or database structures, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
3.2 Copy or redistribute FEEC materials. Copy, publish or redistribute FEEC materials — including the method-profile structure, barrier templates, schematic templates and Excel templates — other than as part of your own integrity records and reports.
3.3 Resell. Resell, sublicense or provide the platform as a service bureau to third parties, or run one tenant for several unrelated operators, without a written partner arrangement with FEEC.
3.4 Remove notices. Remove or obscure proprietary notices, method-profile versions or provenance records.
4. Lawful use and data
You must not:
4.1 Break the law. Use the platform in breach of any law, including data protection, export control, sanctions and anti-bribery laws.
4.2 Upload data you may not use. Upload data you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual property or confidentiality rights.
4.3 Upload restricted data without agreement. Upload special categories of personal data, government identification numbers, payment card data or export-controlled technical data unless FEEC has agreed in writing.
4.4 Mislead. Use the platform or its reports to create knowingly false or misleading integrity records, or represent that FEEC or any regulator has verified, certified or approved a well, a status or a report. BarrierLedger reports are in-house integrity reports; regulatory submissions and official well records remain the operator’s responsibility.
4.5 Impersonate or spam. Impersonate any person, misrepresent your affiliation, or use the invitation or notification features to send unsolicited messages.
5. Enforcement
5.1 Investigation. FEEC may investigate suspected breaches of this AUP, including by reviewing usage and security logs. We access customer data for this purpose only where reasonably necessary and in line with the Data Processing Agreement.
5.2 Action. If we reasonably believe this AUP has been breached, we may, in proportion to the breach, warn the customer and ask for a remedy; disable access to offending content or files; throttle requests or suspend individual users; or suspend or terminate the service as the Agreement allows.
5.3 Urgent action. Where a breach threatens the security or availability of the platform or other customers’ data, we may act immediately and notify the customer afterwards.
5.4 Reporting abuse. Report a suspected breach through the security page.
6. Changes
FEEC may update this AUP by publishing a new version on this page. A material change takes effect for a subscription from its next renewal, and we will tell you before it does.
